IntroductionWAGERplayer provides fully integrated support for the creation, management, bet processing and risk management of Index (Spread) Betting. Spread Bets can be offered along side fixed odds wagers on WAGERplayer. Spread betting allows a Customer to bet on whether the outcome of an event will be higher or lower than that quoted by the bookmaker and to bet a stake amount per point over or under that quoted. The amount won or lost depends on the extent to which the actual result differs from the bookmaker forecast and the size of the bet stake. The greater the difference between the forecast and the actual result the more the player wins or loses. ExampleTotal Points scored spread in an England v Ireland rugby match is 44 - 48. The Customer decides if the actual number of points will be higher or lower. If the Customer thinks that there will be more than 48 points, then he places BUY HIGH Total Points (or bet higher than 48). If the Customer thinks less than 48 points you SELL LOW Total Points (or bet lower than 44). The match score ends up England 25 Ireland 31, which means the actual Total Points are 56.
WAGERplayer ImplementationStop Loss. Markets are defined with a pre-defined Stop Loss limiting the total player loss or bookmaker exposure. For example, in Australian Rules football the Stop Loss is 40. This means that the maximum win or loss is 40 * stake. Lock Amount. When a player places a spread bet, the stake amount is set, but the potential loss is variable depending on the result. For this reason, the WAGERplayer system applies a Lock Amount against a players account to protect against the player spending over their agreed credit limit. The Lock Amount is calculated as a variable percentage of the Stop Loss for the market multiplied by the stake. Max Win/Loss. As an alternative to the Stop Loss, a player can define a maximum win or loss for the spread bet. This give the player the capability to limit their exposure. Risk Management. Risk Management for Spread Bets is managed from an integrated risk screen showing both Fixed and Spread markets. The following Risk Management screen shows the Spread Supremacy market with fixed odds 1x2 and Line Handicap markets.
The figures displayed below for the Supremacy market represent;
To see the Exposure at different Spreads, the Odds Manager can move the Low or High spread using a hot key combination that recalculates the exposure before setting the new spread. |
